General information about our firm and how we work with our clients.

A Team Approach. Our staff works together as a team. This means that for our professional staff, we each have a solid base of experience and skills that we share. However, we each also have an area or two that we have a little more experience and expertise with.

The benefits of a team approach include, but are not limited to, the following:

· When staff members work together as a team, the client benefits from the combined experience and skills of multiple professionals.

· If the primary person that a client works with is out due to illness or such, there is always someone who can assist the client in the staff person’s absence. When a sole practitioner is ill or unavailable, a client may find him/herself in a bind when he/she has an emergency or urgent service need (e.g., tax notices received, payroll processing, etc.) that must be handled timely.

· When a sole practitioner runs into an area that he/she has little or no expertise in, the client may find him/herself either looking for another professional or allowing the sole practitioner to learn to handle the matter at the client’s expense.

Selection of Staff. We carefully select each staff member to ensure the best fit for our firm and for our clients. Thus, we are very selective in the interview and screening process as it is extremely important that our staff are not only competent and professional, but are also a good fit for the types of clients that we work with and for our overall philosophy in working with clients and doing business in general.

Continuing Professional Education. CPAs in Ohio are required to have a minimum of 40 hours of continuing professional education in their field each year. As a matter of firm policy, our non-licensed (non-CPA) professional staff are each required to meet this same standard. Certifications and Memberships. Our firm is a licensed accounting firm (Firm Number 43026-083) with the Accountancy Board of Ohio. Our memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Society of Accountants. We are also an IRS (Internal Revenue Service) authorized e-file (electronic filing) provider (EFIN 315291).

Our Clients. Our clients include individuals and small businesses. Our small business clients range from computer consultants and home daycare providers to specialty trade contractors and specialty product retailers. Many of our small business clients are owned by only one or a few individuals. Of the latter, many are family or husband/wife owned and operated. Additionally, many of our small business clients have home-based businesses.

Our Philosophy. Selecting an accountant to work with is one of the most important decisions one will make for his/her business. That decision will affect not only the business, but the individual owner or owners as well. When selecting an accountant or accounting firm, you want to select one who is not only professional and competent, but who is also a “good fit” for you and your business.

We take great pride in providing quality service with a focus on each client’s specific needs. With an emphasis on consulting, training, and communication, we encourage our clients to be as involved as is possible and practical when it comes to our providing them with professional services. For some, that means training them to handle their own day-to-day bookkeeping and then setting them up on a month-end or quarter-end “close” process where we review the books, make adjustments/corrections, reconcile accounts, generate financial statements and reports, and provide feedback and advice. Others need an accounting firm who can handle all of their day-to-day bookkeeping, accounting, and tax service needs - they need us to act as their “accounting department.” To what extent we are used is dependent upon the client’s specific needs. Thus, we offer customized solutions as opposed to merely applying a “cookie cutter” approach to our clients.
